Cochrane’s Transport together with Progressive Business Technologies (PBT) implemented Sage Intacct to transform their Financial business operations to improve efficiency, performance and financial visibility.
We talked with Brad Maslen, Chief Financial Officer, to understand how the system was implemented and the key benefits achieved by the project.
Sage Intacct is a cloud financial management and accounting system specifically designed to help small and midsized enterprises improve organizational performance and make finance departments more productive and effective.
Who is Cochranes Transport?
Cochrane’s Transport is a leading express parcel, transport, and warehouse logistics service provider. Operating from a purpose built 37,000 Sqm facility in South Australia, Cochrane’s Transport operates more than 140 vehicles delivering across South Australia, Mildura and into Broken Hill.
The project lead for Cochranes Transport was CFO Brad Maslen.
The Challenge
Cochrane’s Transport has grown significantly in recent years, and this has placed pressure on legacy processes and systems. Cochrane’s Transport required a system solution to improve the following pain points for the business:
-
Advanced integration between the transactional invoicing system and the general ledger accounting system.
-
Improve dimensional tagging of transactions to improve reporting and analysis, and management decision making.
-
Simplify accounting and compliance, including banking, reconciliations, and purchase approval workflows.
We had detailed region and route information in our transactional management system, however the granular detail did not flow through to our financial ERP solution. We needed a financial system that could manage significant transactional volume through its API service, and capture the multiple dimensions required on the transactions.
The need for us to speed up the processing of customer payments and bank reconciliation was also a key driver for the project, with thousands of transactions per day, direct bank feed integration was critical
Key Deliverables
-
Ability to capture Dimensions through to the GL for Transport Regions.
-
Robust API which handles thousands of transactions imported a day.
-
Flexible Financial Reporting and Dashboards that provide detailed transport region information.
-
Bank Feeds for easier receipting of Customer Deposits.
-
Purchasing approvals for departmental spend.
Implementation Process
The Project was delivered on time over a 4-month window. Working together with the Cochrane’s Transport Project Team, the two systems were integrated to automate the flow of invoicing transactions into Sage Intacct.
PBT’s implementation process was followed, and with strong client-side governance from the Cochrane’s Transport Project Lead Brad Maslen, all project tasks were carefully tracked and completed on time.
The diligence of the Cochrane’s Transport staff during User Training and User Acceptance Testing translated to a very successful Go Live with very few support issues.
On a tight timeline, all parties delivered to achieve the project outcomes, and make the Sage Intacct project a success. Our return on investment will be significant, as we continue to benefit and build on the solution” .
